Humans, being not much more than hairless degenerate monkies, make pretty poor climbers. Mother nature, however has equiped many animals with excellent climbing abilities and anatomy. Today we start with our personal favourite, the anti-hero and great climber: the SLOTH
So what is rotsblok? A web site, you've probably noticed.
But it is a lot more. I've been climbing for ages now, from back in the days when there was no internet, till today. First let me tell you a bit about myself. I've been on national television, the radio, off the deck, in Peru, injured, failing, trying diamond hard, bulldog ugly ultra low sitstarts. I've been falling many meters, training long hours and most of all, i've been enjoying myself with friends a hell of a lot. Fucking priceless.
In this vertical word things are getting quite serious now (both technologically as climbing-y). And the thing I do second most (first prize: climbing) is hanging around in the ugly backalleys of the web. These virtual walls for climbers, are is still not the psychadelic buddhist supernova they could be, and should be. Ok, there are some pretty cool blogs out there and the rate by which good video's are being produced is awesome. And then there are 8a..nu and some less archaic versions such as sendage. They are pretty good and one of them might become great.
In Groningen wordt hard gewerkt aan een onvergetelijk begin van de zomer. Als het weer zo blijft als het de laatste weken geweest is gaat dit vast goedkomen. Ten eerste is er voor de studerende klimmers in Nederland het NSK sportklimmen. Het NSK zal dit jaar vooral op de 37 meter hoge toren plaatsvinden. Een beetje continuïteit kan dus geen kwaad. Deze week kun je je nog inschrijven en zeker zijn van een shirt en een goed gevulde goodiebag. Daarna is inschrijven nog steeds mogelijk maar dan moet je het doen met een goede wedstrijd, een tof feest en een lekker hapje.
Last November was a hell. Delta weeks off from work. Three weeks Bleau. Purpose: Projects projects projects. Just like in the movies. And ultimately prevail .. well that was the plan ..

Or ‘the cake on the wake’, a typical dutch expression meaning to look back on last weeks news and place it in some perspective. So how to get from numbers to words, from quantity to quality and get to some nice reading. 9b, 8c, onsight, redpoint, flash. All numbers and terms to categorize an effort made by somebody doing something somewhere, they are the descriptive statistics to make lists and rankings of all those individual experiences.
Met 55 deelnemers was deze editie van de regionale jeugdkampioenschappen zeker een goed bezochte. Van zover als Nieuwegein en Enschede waren de jeugdige klimmers richting het hoge Noorden gekomen om zich aldaar met elkaar te meten. Dat de helft van de deelnemers bestond uit de lokale Groninger klimjeugd mocht de pret niet drukken. Voor 1 middag was Bjoeks evengoed het domein van de Yosemite Wallbugs (Zwolle) de kids van Climb Up (Nieuwegein) en ES On sight (Enschede).
